A small plane crashed happened about 9:30 last night in Cherokee County.

Drivers noticed debris on Texas Highway 7, near the Cherokee-Angelina County line, and authorities traveled from Houston overnight to comb over the scene.

The wreckage was discovered in a wooded area, in 4700 block of Cheeseland Road in Pollok.

The Lufkin Daily News reports the number of passengers on board the plane is not yet known, but a plane that correlates with the time-frame and location of the one reported in the area is that of a 421 Cessna which left west Houston out of George Bush Intercontinental Airport en route to Tulsa Riverside, Arkansas.

The FAA hasn't yet confirmed whether lives were lost. The investigation is underway.
