How You Can Help the People of West, Texas
The deadly fertilizer plant explosion that rocked the small town of West, Texas, on Wednesday night has resulted in many deaths and at least 160 injured. Even though West is a few hours from us, there are still several ways we can help our fellow Texans.
Donate Blood
Carter BloodCareWith dozens of people injured, the most important thing anyone can do at this point to help is donate blood. Any blood types will be accepted, especially if you are A-negative. Click here to find the closest Carter BloodCare facility or mobile unit to you.
Give to the American Red Cross
The Red Cross of DFW and the Red Cross of Austin are both in West to assist those displaced and injured. You can donate monetarily, and all you have to do is text REDCROSS to 90999. A $10 donation to American Red Cross National Disaster Relief will be added to your cell phone bill. Keep in mind that your money may not go directly to West, but it can be helpful.
Donate to The Salvation Army
The DFW branch of the Salvation Army has four mobile kitchens in West to give food and help to people in the community. You can donate to their cause at salvationarmydfw.org.
Positive Prayer and Thoughts
If you are unable to give blood or give financially, positive prayer and thoughts to our fellow Texans can go farther than you think. Our heartfelt love is extended to a community that desperately needs it right now.
