Hugo Scores 11 Oscar Nominations

The Academy members have spoken and the nominations are out for the Oscars and director Martin Scorsese's movie Hugo leads the field of nominees with 11 nominations this morning.

The nominations were announced this morning in Beverly Hills and announced on GMA too.  Hugo has been nominated for Best Picture and Best Director along with 9 other nominations and is an adaptation of a children's book from Brian Selznick.  Other favorites were The Artist, which received 10 nominations and could win an Oscar for Best Director and Best Picture along with Oscars for Best Actor for Jean Dujuardin and Best Supporting Actress for Berenice Bejo for their roles.

The Descendants received 5 nominations in key categories, like Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for George Clooney.  Clooney's also competing with his bud Brad Pitt in this category too,  Pitt received a nomination for his role in Moneyball.

Billy Crystal returns to host the 84th annual Academy Awards Sunday, February 26th on ABC.
