Our pre-lit tree officially turned nine years old this past Christmas and we wrestled with the idea of replacing it with a new one this year, but just didn't do it. However, now we feel we'll be getting a new one in 2015 though!

Our current tree has a few areas where we've had to add lights to it because the lights on the tree just didn't work! I tried for a couple of hours to find the problem but just gave up and added lights. Our tree didn't look bad with these additional lights so we lived with it this year because we went looking for a new tree and couldn't find a new one to match our tastes. I think we started looking too late and all of the great trees were sold. We even contemplated on getting a real tree, but decided upon using the one we had already.

Now for the reason why I anticipate a new tree for my family in 2015. Last night we had the tree on, we were playing on of my daughters' new games while watching America's Funniest Videos and all of a sudden an area in the middle of thee tree suddenly got brighter. I told my wife those lights are probably getting ready to go out and sure enough within fifteen minutes there was a dark spot on the tree! Then a few minutes later the same thing happened to a section of lights on the bottom of the tree. The strand got really bright and within fifteen minutes they went out too!

My wife said to me, "I guess we'll sit here and watch all the lights go out on the tree!" So it was decided at that moment, we'd be replacing our Christmas tree for Christmas 2015! So when the retailers start setting up Christmas in September (ok, October!) we'll be the family buying their Christmas tree months before Christmas!
