Thursday morning at 10a the ribbon will be cut at the Rose Garden Center to kick off the 79th annual Texas Rose Festival in Tyler. Rose Festival activities include the ladies' and men's luncheons, the coronation at UT Tyler, the Rose Parade, an arts and crafts fair, the Queen's tea and more.

The Queen's Coronation will take place Friday evening at 7p at the Cowan Center at UT Tyler and will feature this year's queen, Haley McGrede Anderson along with the entire court including duchess Joy Lynn Ramey.

If you can't make it out to the coronation, you can see the Rose Queen and the court on floats all dressed up in their Rose Festival gowns during the Rose Festival parade. The parade begins at 9a at Glenwood and Front St. in Tyler and ends up inside Rose Stadium at the East Texas Fair Grounds. In addition to the queen and her court, the parade will feature many civic organizations and clubs, animals, antique vehicles, cheerleaders, marching bands, clowns and more!

Other activities include the Rose Festival Arts and Crafts Fair at Bergfeld Park in Tyler a flower show and more. For specific location and time information check out the calendar of events.

This year, the rose festival will take us on a tour of Asia and celebrate the year of the dragon as "Indochine" is the theme of this years celebration.
