If you don’t know Jamar Rogers by now, well, where have you been? Jamar is one of the last standing eight on ‘The Voice,’ representing Team Cee Lo and going for a big win. On Monday’s episode, he proved that he has a legitimate chance of taking it all home.

Prior to his performance, Cee Lo told Jamar that he wanted to give him “something intimate,” but the contestant expressed — knowingly — that he didn’t want his rendition of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes’ ‘If You Don’t Know Me by Now’ to be like the original, rather he wanted “to make it 20-12.”

And 2012 he made it. The soulful song opened with just Jamar, the audience… and a thousand distracting lights. But in all seriousness, Jamar — who made a likely unintentionally nod to Justin Bieber with his purple and white outfit — really proved on Monday’s episode why he’s standing tall on ‘The Voice.’ He was emotional, he was powerful, and most of all, he was sincere in his delivery.

Following his jaw-dropping cover, Adam Levine told him, “I’m purely a fan of what you do. I love what you do.” Blake Shelton tipped a cowboy hat to the laid-back performance, expressing that he appreciated it and saying simply, in his country way, “it sounded good.”

“The reason why your story is so empowering is because it’s a success story,” Cee Lo said profoundly. “It was wonderful.”

We can’t help but agree.
