Although she has played coy about the topic in the past, Janet Jackson has squashed rumors about her becoming a judge on the forthcoming season of ‘X Factor.’

According to The Insider, the R&B star said she is “very flattered that ‘X Factor’ let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.” Jackson cited her Number Ones Up Close and Personal tour, which resumes this summer, and a commitment with Lionsgate as reasons why the endeavor would be “unrealistic” at this time.

Her team also added, “There have been absolutely no meetings between Janet and anyone with regard to ‘X Factor.’” However, during a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, Jackson raised eyebrows with her response to the talk show host’s questions about her involvement in the show.

“Oh my God. No, I’m not a judge on ‘The X Factor,’” she said, adding, “… But that’s all I really think I should say.”

Many stars are reportedly in contention to replace ousted judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, but no one has been confirmed. Simon Cowell is expected to make an announcement about the show in the next few weeks.
