Round three of the high school football playoffs happened last weekend and quite a few East Texas teams survived and are moving one step closer to playing in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington for the state titles. Currently East Texas has 12 teams still in the playoffs.

Fourth round playoff games are scheduled for this Friday night and Saturday evening and feature some big schools still alive for the title. Tyler's John Tyler is still in the fight and will be facing Friscos Centennial on Friday night in Ennis. Now Kilgore and Carthage are both in Class 3A Div. 1 but facing different opponents Friday, but if the two win their state semifinal games, we could see an East Texas pairing at Cowboys Stadium in just a couple of weeks.

Other East Texas teams competing this weekend include Hughes Springs, Elysian Fields, Alto, Mart, Tenaha, Frost, Newton, New Boston, Daingerfield and Henderson.
