While we'd like to point out that neither Justin Bieber nor Selena Gomez, nor their camps nor their publicists (phew!) have confirmed that the couple is kaput. Still, we're left to wonder about the status and fate of the Biebs 'Next Chapter' interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The candid chat is set to air on Sunday, Nov. 25, which is the Sunday right after the Thanksgiving holiday. In the interview clips that were released ahead of the big special, Biebs gushed about his lady love.

So if they did indeed end their romance, will Oprah have to go back and edit, recut or redo her interview with Bieber? The chat is said to be uber-revealing and if it focuses on a relationship that has since imploded, it will feel dated. Oprah is on the cutting edge of celebrity culture, so it would stand to reason that she would have to re-cut the final product and perhaps sit down with the 'Boyfriend' singer once again. She'll probably want the scoop on why things went south ... if they did indeed go south.

In the clip, which you can view below, the Biebs talks about never wanting to "hide" the relationship, saying, "I never make her separate from me...I don't want her to ever feel like I'm ashamed of her. I feel like a lot of guys do that, especially in the business. They don't want to be seen with the girl, so they'll make them ride in separate cars and do all that getaway stuff ... We get away, we're getting away together."

That has us reaching for the Kleenex. We so hope that these rumors are just that. However, where there's smoke, there is usually fire.

We loved the Biebs and Sel together. So did his mom Pattie Mallette.

While many Beliebers would like this news to be true, there is a contingent of fans that did root for him and Sel. That includes us.
