Justin Timberlake ended his three-year musical hiatus with the release of "Can't Stop The Feeling," a song off the upcoming Timberlake-starring animated movie Trolls. And while it may seem like an unorthodox way for an artist of his caliber to reemerge, those studio sessions ultimately gave Timberlake the impetus he needed to start work on his own music again.

"As [the soundtrack] was happening, I just wanted to stay in the studio, because you get the creativity going again," he said during an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Timberlake placed calls to Pharrell and Timbaland, and he's been in and out of the studio since -- just don't expect a release date any time soon. He's in no rush.

"The difference in writing a soundtrack for a movie is the movie has a date that it's coming out, so you have to finish the music for that," he said. "So I take these little pockets of time with [Pharrell] or [Timbaland] and we just kinda get creative. Because for me...it's done when it's done. I don't wanna put the pressure on myself that's like, well, what if you say, 'I was gonna put the album out on this date,' but because you have to have it mixed and mastered, there was that one song you didn't write."

When pressed about details of the upcoming album, Timberlake admitted a collaboration with The Weeknd (who opened for him on his 20/20 Experience Tour) may not be far off. Oh, and he also let slip that the "Can't Feel My Face" singer is working on a new album, too. Whoops!

"Abel and I have been talking about doing a collaboration soon," Timberlake said. "He's working on an album -- I don't know if I'm supposed to say that...but we've talked about doing something together."
