Katy Perry has responded (and rather quickly, we might add) to the rumors that she dissed fellow pop divas Beyonce and Shakira.

Here’s the backstory. It’s well-known that Katy and her bestie Rihanna are planning a duet sometime down the road. It’s a hot topic that’s obviously coming up in conversation. During an interview, Perry said that she wants her collabo with RiRi to be one for the ages and she inadvertently took a swipe and Bey and Shakira by doing so.

“We’ve collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet,” Perry said about her friendship with RiRi. “It’s one of those things that’s got so much build up that we have to deliver. I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,’ not ‘Beautiful Liar.’”

When taken out of context, that sure sounds like a diss. However, if you think about it, Perry could have just been clarifying what sonic template she wanted to use for a collabo with her girl Ri.

As we predicted, Perry attempted to clarify (or backpedal, depending on your perspective) her comments. She took Twitter to address the story, which began to multiply like a virus on the web. She blamed the media and a slow news day. Put simply, she didn’t go there. We believe her.

Perry tweeted the following message:

“F— all y’all (press) dat thinks I dissed anyone, puhlez, u havin a slow news day or what?! Get a life, cuz it’s not mine!

There ya have it. No harm, no foul on Perry’s part when it comes to Beyonce’s duet with Shakira.
