Kelly Clarkson treated fans to a cover of the White Stripes’ hit ‘Seven Nation Army’ on Monday at the Sugar Bowl, but she had a little trouble remembering some of the lyrics.

The singer was bundled up in a hat and jacket as she performed in New Orleans during the Allstate Fan Fest, a music event to promote college football’s Sugar Bowl. She performed several of her own hits before deciding to toss in some rock music with a version of ‘Seven Nation Army.’ “This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever covered,” she told the crowd. “I hope you like it.”

As the song’s signature bass line began, Clarkson started singing the second verse, then realized her mistake and corrected herself even as she kept singing: “Don’t wanna hear about it / The seven nation … We’re gonna start again / Gonna tell you ’bout it / And I’m gonna get the words right this time, here we go.

Clarkson handled the flub like a seasoned pro, starting again with “I’m gonna fight ‘em off” and knocking out the rest of the song, bringing a vocal ferocity to the tune that didn’t exist in the original. She ended the evening by tweeting, “Thanks New Orleans! That was fun :)
