At the beginning of the month, the Food Network started a seven-episode series called the Christmas Cookie Challenge – a spin-off of their hit series Cake Wars. The show consists of five bakers competing through two rounds with different rules, ingredients, and instructions for cookie decorating in each round. The overall winner is decided by a panel of judges based on taste, design, creativity, and more – and they get to walk away with $10,000 and the title of Christmas Cookie Champion. On Monday night a Tylerite was dubbed Champion.

On Monday night, November 27, Tyler’s own Dylan Humphrey of Kool Kakes by Dylan competed on the episode. He is familiar with the show and how it works after competing on Cake Wars back in 2016.

After seemingly sailing through the first round, the second round was a little tougher having to use an Irish liquor and having to make EVERYTHING edible – including the platters and the cups for the liquor. He hit a few bumps in the road – like one of his edible cookie shot glasses having a break in it, and his pudding that was used for icing not being cold enough to mold to a décor that would hold.

But, the judges LOVED nearly everything about it. The taste, the presentation, the creativity, all of it. He used a dry fruit as a base for his platter, and the delicious pudding icing was enough to win the judges over and crown him the winner and hand him the $10,000!

Dylan told us:

Filming the show was a great experience. I wanted to show the world that I could do more than cakes, and that is exactly what I did at the end of the day.

If you haven't seen Dylan's work at Kool Kakes, you need to check some of these out!

A huge congrats to Dylan for his hard work and for being not only the Food Network’s, but Tyler’s Christmas Cookie Champion!
