Lady Gaga and Prince are rumored to be contributors on the soundtrack to the latest film adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic 'The Great Gatbsy,' which stars Leonard DiCaprio as the titular character.

Consequence of Sound is reporting that both the Mother Monster and the Purple One are writing material specifically for the film. Actress Adelaide Clemens, who plays Catherine in the movie, spilled the beans, saying that "some pretty huge artists have approached [director] Baz [Luhrmann] and are writing songs for the film." Clemens even went as far as to say that "I don't think Warner Bros. are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door."

So based on her comments, it would seem that Gaga and Prince want to write music for the film, and have either asked or agreed to participate.

Wouldn't it be to-freaking-die-for if Gaga and Prince collaborated together on a single track for the film? Two titans of pop music from different eras but with a penchant for platform heels and outrageous fashion sense would collide if that happened. We'd go nuts!

The film is due hit multiplexes in May of 2013.

With Gaga working on 'ARTPOP,' which is set to drop in 2013, an appearance on a major film soundtrack would certainly increase her exposure even more. It'd be the right move for her, that's for sure. She could benefit from the film's publicity machine. Sounds like a win-win.

And anything Prince does is magical.
