September is five months away and that's how long little monsters will have to wait before Lady Gaga can take the stage again.

Gaga is recovering from tour ending hip surgery and has been seen wheeling around in her couture, Louis Vuitton-branded and leather and gold wheelchairs. She's making progress, but she won't be in fighting shape until late summer, with an insider projecting September as her possible return to the stage.

A source close to the situation said that Mama Monster is "relaxing and rehabbing. She actually just started walking again, which is great."

While she is physically improving, her mental state has taken a bit of beating, since performing is her first love and she has been unable to do it. "She has a bunch of projects she wants to roll on, but she needs clearance from her doctors," a friend said. And that has been a constant source of frustration for the singer.

We can't say we blame her. Pop stars have to strike while the iron is hot and any sort of absence can take its toll on fan's attention spans. That's probably why Rihanna cranks out an album a year. But then again, Gaga's monsters are an unrelenting bunch that loves her like a saint and don't seem likely to move on to the next big thing.

The upside of her downtime is that she is working on songwriting which is "very therapeutic." We're glad she is able to immerse herself in her music.
