Larry Hagman Dies — Notorious + Beloved ‘Dallas’ Villain Dies at 81

Larry Hagman, a Texas native who played the notorious, yet loved, J.R. Ewing on the hit television show 'Dallas,' died on Friday. He was 81.

Hagman died this afternoon at a Dallas hospital, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Hagman played Major Anthony Nelson on "I Dream of Jeannie" before his hit role in the show "Dallas," which he starred in for 14 years. He returned to the show when it rebooted on TNT in 2012.

The Fort Worth native was the son of late actress Mary Martin.
