‘Les Misérables’ is Ready for Award Season
‘Les Mis’ is looking like the award season’s favorite after the crowd honored with its first showing gave the film a standing ovation. This story has been told for many years in many different ways. Why is this version different and possibly better?
“Les Misérables” has been a favorite for audiences for decades. A staple classic that some of us have been required to read in school. It is well known to most, but it seems director, Tom Hooper, has taken the famous tale and made it brand new. This newer take of the story is quickly gaining die hard fans, especially the guilds that will determine the outcome of the award season.
With a more current cast, this film relates to audiences more than older versions of this emotional story. Making the cast sing live instead of lip synching to pre recorded tracks is also contemporary take from past ‘Les Mis’ versions. These two changes have apparently charmed the first audience to experience this new ‘Les Mis.’
There is a lot of buzz around this movie. Hooper and cast are being applauded profusely for this creation. Anne Hathaway is already stated to be the favorite for Supporting Actress nods at the upcoming award ceremonies. Huffington Post reported that, “If other audiences prove half as enthusiastic, Universal Studios could have its first Oscar winner for Best Picture since 2001′s “A Beautiful Mind.”
What an exciting prediction for a movie that was only finished hours before the first showing Friday afternoon. For the rest of us, this is also a rousing reception. We can only let our anticipation for the movie’s release to grow to sky scraping heights.
We must wait until December to experience Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Amanda Seyfried performing in this highly anticipated show stopper. For now, let this trailer get you started with the nail biting wait.
