Next weekend a big, yet small, celebrity will be making his way to Tyler to help support his best friend in their strides of finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Davis Cleveland, young star of the Disney Channel series 'Shake It Up!' will be attending the annual 65 Roses Gala - a one of a kind fundraiser to bring awareness to Cystic Fibrosis.

The annual event will raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and put toward cystic fibrosis research. Local guitarist Daniel de la Rocha and the Dolce Vita string quartet of local students will provide the aural entertainment for the evening and young actor Davis Cleveland, star of "Shake It Up!" will be the special guest.

Local Tylerite Maci Drewry became good friends with with Cleveland when he saw her video about her life with CF. Drewry has been an advocate and raising awareness to the cause for many years. Both Davis and Maci are set to receive and award from the CF Foundation at the gala. Cystic fibrosis is a recessive genetic disorder that critically affects the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver and intestine. There is no cure for cystic fibrosis, but recent breakthroughs in medication had made doctors and scientists very optimistic.

Donated prizes for the auction include the chance to be a guest on the set of "Shake It Up!" with Cleveland, breakfast at Hollytree Country Club in Tyler with Cleveland, VIP tickets to and a tour of Disneyland with Cleveland, a private screening at Times Square Cinema and a trip to New York City to attend a taping of Saturday Night Live. The gala is next Saturday, May 5 at the home of Kelley and Casey Brownlow in Tyler. Tickets to the event are $150 per person. For more information or to reserve tickets call 903-894-6676.
