Longview Man Charged with Murder in Weekend Shooting

Charges have been filed against 43-year-old Cedric Bernard Carldwell in connection with the Sunday shooting death of 63-year-old Huey Gray of Longview.

Police responded to the shooting in the 800 block of Walnut St. where the suspect and victim were arguing.

Officers say Carldwell shot Gray several times. Gray was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Carldwell fled the scene prior to police arrival. He later turned himself in.

He was charged with one count of murder and is being held in the Gregg County Jail on a $175,000 bond.

Jail records show that Carldwell has been in and out of jail since 1992 on numerous charges including aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.
