When luring new businesses to a metropolitan area, being labeled as the country's "angriest city in America" is a label the local Chamber of Commerce would like to shy away from. Apparently Longview will have to do something to change its image because it has received that label, "angriest city in America," thanks to a recent Gallup survey.

The survey compares quality of life among 357 cities and Longview came out as the worst performing city based on the survey results. Data was collected from residents and was based off of their responses to access to basic needs, physical and emotional health along with financial status and happiness in the workplace. The survey, dubbed "Well Being Index", began collecting information in January of 2008 and has been speaking to as many as 1000 people a day throughout all demographics and regions of the country.

Kerry Hagan offers this advice to Longview residents, "It's hard to stay angry when you're fishing!" (KLTV) Hagan says that to Esquire Magazine because the city will be profiled along with the survey results on their website.
