Lorde Rises on Easter Sunday With New, Combustible ‘Homemade Dynamite’

If you're a Christian, The Lord rose yesterday (April 16) on Easter Sunday. If you're a ticket-holding Coachella-goer, Lorde rose.

The "Green Light" singer, who debuted the brand new "Sober" at a pre-Coachella gig on April 14, continued gifting her fans with new, booming music last night, when she unveiled a new track called "Homemade Dynamite" (the full track list for her forthcoming album hasn't been released, but Pitchfork confirmed "Dynamite" will appear).

The song, recorded by a few sleuthing fans, includes an explosive verse-to-chorus eruption.

"Now you know it's really gonna blow," Lorde warns across the track before production stops, and she delicately mimes the sound of a bomb going off.

And Lorde's social media following seemed happy to be subjected to the blast. One follower noted "her explosion sound effect, i love her," while another said simply "I'm dead."

Melodrama, the long-awaited follow-up to 2013 debut Pure Heroine, is due out in June. Lorde's previously noted that Florence + The Machine were a huge inspiration behind the LP's first single, "Green Light." She also told Pitchfork in March that she was very intensely involved in her sophomore album's production, and that adulthood — specifically, moving into her own home — will be a prominent theme.

"It’s amazing actually listening to this body of work and being like, 'wow, that is that year of my life in all of its kind of glory and disgusting,'" she said. "All the gross moments, all great moments. It’s really special for me to listen to."
