As cliché as it sounds, talk about being in the right place at the right time.

New York bus driver Steven St. Bernard was walking down the sidewalk when he noticed 7-year-old Keyla McCree dancing on top of the window air-conditioning unit outside her third-floor apartment in Coney Island, N.Y.

St. Bernard said he rushed to get under Keyla in case she fell, which she did.

“Basically she was dancing and … I was just praying that I would get there, and that if she [fell] that I would catch her,” he said.

Keyla was not injured from the fall, while St. Bernard tore a tendon in his hand after catching her from a 30-foot drop.

Keyla’s mother, who said her daughter is autistic, was inside the apartment thinking her daughter was asleep in her room when someone knocked on the door.

“I heard somebody banging on the door, stating that my daughter was outside on the air conditioner, but I had no idea what was going on because I had my son,” Saleema McCree said.

And amazingly enough, the entire thing was caught on video, from CBS New York.
