Mandee’s Grammy Predictions: Agree or Disagree?
The Grammy Awards are all set for this Sunday. The performers and nominees are slated to appear and at 7:00 p.m. CT, LL Cool J will open the show and the winners will be declared.
I'll be watching alongside you, and have made my picks below for the top categories:
Album Of The Year:
"The Blessed Unrest" — Sara Bareilles
"Random Access Memories" — Daft Punk (Mandee's Pick)
"Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" — Kendrick Lamar
"The Heist" — Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
"Red" — Taylor Swift
Random Access Memories is currently the only album that I own on vinyl, and while I totally did Daft Punk I also would love to own an Grammy Award winning album. Ha!
Record Of The Year:
"Get Lucky" — Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams
"Radioactive" — Imagine Dragons
"Royals" — Lorde (Mandee's Pick)
"Locked Out Of Heaven" — Bruno Mars
"Blurred Lines" — Robin Thicke Featuring T.I. & Pharrell Williams
"Royals" is the song that introduced us all to Lorde and her majestic voice. I can't get enough of this song and am fascinated by her maturity and independence as an artist.
Song Of The Year:
"Just Give Me A Reason" — Jeff Bhasker, Pink & Nate Ruess, songwriters (Pink Featuring Nate Ruess) (Mandee's Pick)
"Locked Out Of Heaven" — Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine & Bruno Mars, songwriters (Bruno Mars)
"Roar" — Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Bonnie McKee, Katy Perry & Henry Walter, songwriters (Katy Perry)
"Royals" — Joel Little & Ella Yelich O'Connor, songwriters (Lorde)
"Same Love" — Ben Haggerty, Mary Lambert & Ryan Lewis, songwriters (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Featuring Mary Lambert)
I just don't get tired of hearing "Just Give Me A Reason." I end up singing along every time it's on.
I'm totally biased in this opinion, because I met Kacey at an early age when she had wrapped up Nashville Star. She helped judge a small town talent competition that I was involved with, and she was not only talented but gracious and generous.
Did I nail it or totally miss? Let me know what you think!
