Melanie Amaro, the winner of Season 1 of 'X Factor,' returned to the site of her greatest triumph on tonight's (Dec. 6) elimination episode of Season 2. She performed her new single, the unexpectedly clubby track 'Long Distance.'

The fast, furious song is an interesting choice for Amaro, who is known for her belter's voice. She sang adult contemporary songs and ballads often during her season, but this song is an upbeat banger. We can totally envision peeps grooving to this track at the local hotspot.

Looking sexy in a black dress and with stick-straight hair, Amaro proved she's still got it and why she won the whole shebang just under a year ago.

After her performance, Amaro spoke about how things have changed, but for the better.

"I have tons of wonderful people that love me and take me in," Amaro said about life after 'X Factor. She gets recognized on the street and she loves it. She also didn't speak in her accent, which you'll remember that she didn't even reveal she had until mid-season last year.

We're glad to finally get a taste of new Amaro music. It's been almost a year since her big win, and these reality singing competition winners usually release albums within a few months of winning to strike while the iron is hot. Amaro hasn't done that. But we won't rush her. She has to take her time and put out the best album possible.

Belting out 'Long Distance' on 'X Factor' tonight was a smart way to remind us that she's preparing to rock our worlds with that voice again.
