Missing East Texas Woman Found Dead

Gladewater Police are investigating the death of a woman who was reported missing early Thursday.

The body of 39-year-old Heather Marie Holcomb was found in a wooded area off Gay Ave. at daybreak Thursday.

Holcomb who suffered from various mental problems was reported missing around 3:30 a.m.by a person she had been staying with.

Gladewater Chief of Police Farrell Alexander said Holcomb had been staying with the resident for the last few days. The victim had had apparently walked away from the residence sometime in the night and was located by the resident and brought back inside. Later in the morning the resident discovered the victim missing and called police. The victim suffers from various mental health problems.

A missing person investigation was started and an immediate search of the area was made. After daylight additional personnel were formed into a search party and a new search was made. The missing person was found deceased in the 700 block of Gay Ave. located well off the road and into a heavily wooded area.

The investigation continues to determine if any criminal offense occurred.
