Mix 93-1 and CTCU are proud to recognize outstanding teachers from our East Texas classrooms!

This week's recipient is Mrs. Hamilton, a 5th grade teacher at EJ Moss in Lindale.

Mrs. Hamilton was nominated to be the Mix 93-1 CTCU Teacher of the Week by a student's older sibling. Here's what they had to say about her:

"My younger brother is sever ADHD, essentially to the point that he can legally be considered 'handicapped'. However, if you did not know him personally, you could never tell. My brother is very bright, bright enough to even be apart of Lindales gifted and talented program. He is just like every other student that walks the halls of Lindale Schools, only he is labeled with the problem of ADHD.

A factor of ADHD is the feeling of having to constantly move, which just so happens to be the number one reason he constantly stays “in trouble” at school.

What makes a good teacher? A good teacher is a teacher who takes time to engage with their students and actually get to know each individual student. That is why I think Mrs.Hamilton of EJ Moss more than deserves this award. Mrs. Hamilton took the time to come up with ways to help my brother focus in class. She took her time to get to know him and figure out how he learned best. She even duct taped off an area around a desk just for him to be considered as his own space. Not only did this method help, it made him excited to go to her class everyday.

I personally never knew Mrs.Hamilton, but I am very appreciative of her and think she is a wonderful individual.

For the reasons stated above by this concerned and grateful sibling of a child in Mrs. Hamilton's classroom, Mix 93-1 and CTCU recognize Mrs. Hamilton as this week's Teacher of the Week!"
