Mix 93-1 Teacher Of The Week January 29th
This week's recipient is Steven Moore, the applied music and band instructor at Lindale High School.
Mr. Moore was nominated by a parent of a former student who had these awesome words to say about him,
Mr. Moore is like the ultimate band director! He wrangles over 200 plus kids a day and brings out the best in them both musically and personally! He's hard when he needs to be but is the first one to sing those kids praises when they do well. He has led his band to years and years of consecutive 1st place awards at UIL and first place at Texas State Military Marching contests. We joke that he used to have hair when he started but he pulled it all out! He's loved by those kids and respected by them and that's the ultimate compliment you can pay a teacher besides saying how much of an impact he leaves on those who have been in band and moved on to play in college and university bands all over! He's affectionately known as "The Momo". A lot of times teachers who maybe just teach band or the arts sometimes get overlooked because it's not algebra or history or English but they are so valuable to our kids, more than likely they're not going to remember their time they spent in geometry or that project they did in government but they will remember the year they won first place at NAMMB or the time they marched on the field at SFA and got superior performance! I'd love to see Mr. Moore get recognized for the hard work, the love, and the dedication he puts into these kids. He was definitely my son's favorite teacher the whole 4 years he was in high school and almost totally the reason he's now in band in college!
With remarks like that, we are proud to name Mr. Moore as the Mix 93-1 Half Price Books Teacher Of The Week!
