Mix 93-1 Teacher Of The Week May 14th

Mix 93-1 along with Half Price Books and Aspen Creek Grill are proud to recognize outstanding teachers from our East Texas classrooms!

This week's recipient is Mr. Lynn McCutchen, an anatomy and physiology sciences instructor at Kilgore College.

Mr. McCutchen was nominated by one of his students who wrote this about him:

What does it mean to be a great teacher? Of course, credentials, knowledge, critical thinking, and all other faculties of intelligence are important. However, a great teacher should be much more than just credentials, experience, and intelligence. What is it that lies in the heart of a teacher? Mister McCutchen is an amazing teacher. He is a great teacher that shows kindness to all his students, colleagues, and those around him. My favorite phrase that reminds me of him is that kindness makes the world go around. He truly shows that. He shows that in the classroom and at school. He makes all his students feel welcomed, cared for, and loved. He is a compassionate man in that teaching is a humanistic profession, and compassion is the feeling of understanding, and showing others, you are concerned about your students. He is a compassionate teacher that models that characteristic to the students with his actions, and that results in his students be more open to understanding the world around them. He is a empathetic person who teaches us to be more positive. He is an positive teacher that teaches us to be tough, and look on the bright side of every aspect of our lives; and also in every aspect of our lives. Everyone looks at a great teacher and they want to better themselves as a better person. A great teacher uncovers hidden treasures, possibilities, and magic right before everyone’s eyes. He helps his students reach their potential and to believe in themselves. He understands that things may be difficult, but you can do it. He makes us feel that we can and will be whatever we want, and that all it takes is faith in ourselves. Mr. McCutchen has inspired me to be the best I can be. He made me want to push myself even further than what I thought I could do or be. I want to be the best nurse I can be, and he made me realize the potential I have. He not once said we can’t or couldn’t’ but rather he said you can and you will be what you hoped to achieve; that is why I believe he should be the teacher of the week not only that but the year. He is an inspiring teacher."
