"Hello! And welcome to Moviefone!", a phrase heard by many Gen X-ers, will soon be going away thanks to AOL pulling the plug on the service.

AOL announced that the service, which was used by millions in the 1990's and early 2000's, would be disconnected by the end of the month. The service has been surpassed by brand names Fandango and MovieTickets.com and much like Blockbuster not evolving with technology and the times, Moviefone is suffering the same fate.

When users called 777-FILM this weekend, they were greeted with the normal greeting in addition to a separate message encouraging users to download the Moviefone app for your phone or tablet.

Moviefone was made famous by Kramer from the classic show 'Seinfeld' in the following episode.
