It's Mumford and Sons like you've never heard them before. Do you like it?

In advance of the release of their new album, 'Wilder Mind,' on May 4, the British folk band has released their first single, 'Believe.'

And it's nothing like any Mumford and Sons song before it.

The band has ditched their iconic banjo and mandolin and traded them in for an electric, synthesized sound on their new album. 'Believe' is the first chance for us to get a taste of their new sound, which has a very Radiohead and Coldplay feel to it.

While the hardcore Mumford and Sons fans will likely be shell-shocked by the new sound, it's not something that was that unexpected for the band.

“It didn’t feel like a huge departure in some way, you know? It felt kind of natural to us," frontman Marcus Mumford told Rolling Stone. It sounds kind of like a jolt or something, but for us it was just where we were headed. We were never too heavily wedded to a certain type of instrument.”

Mumford and Sons followed their double-platinum debut 'Sigh No More' (2009) with Grammy Album of the Year 'Babel' in 2012. While 'Babel' was largely well-received, it did receive some criticism that it sounded too much like its predecessor.

Almost three years later, 'Wilder Minds' will definitely be a whole new side of Mumford and Sons. How it will be received is certainly intriguing.
