We're so happy Nathan Sykes is back with the Wanted! The bass singer of the British boy band (save for Siva, the lone Irishman) was down for the count for a while following scary vocal cord surgery -- and boy, did it scare him.

He recently confessed that he suffered full-blown panic attacks ahead of going under the knife. Yikes!

“It has been a scary time, I think just before I went under the anesthetic for the operation I kind of had a bit of a panic attack," he told Entertainment Wise (via WENN). "I was like, ‘My career is in your hands!’”

Sykes told E! News that his band's supporters have been integral to his recovery. "The fans have been incredible," he gushed. "They really kept me going. They were always online (on Twitter) going, ‘How you doing? How you doing (sic)?’ but I didn’t want to say too much because they were always like, ‘When you back (sic)?’ That was always the first question and I didn't want to say specific dates just in case I didn't make it," he said. "I had to see the doctor before my first performance and if he said no I didn't want to let anyone down."

While Sykes says he feels "a lot better than I did two months ago," he's not totally healed. When will we know if the operation was a 100 percent success? Sykes revealed, "We'll find out in about a month’s time."

We're crossing our fingers for you!
