National Donut Day Is Friday, June 1st

No matter how you spell it 'donut' or 'doughnut' they're all the same - delicious!

Whether you like your donut glazed, covered in chocolate, with sprinkles on top, filled with creme or any other way, we just love the light, airy, fluffy doughy morning donut! This Friday, June 1st, the U.S. will be celebrating National Donut (excuse me, National Doughnut) Day! Something we've been celebrating since 1938! The very first celebration of this morning treat was shown as a way to honor The Salvation Army Donut Lassies, who served donuts to soldiers in World War I.

Here in East Texas we don't have a shortage of donut shops! It seems like everywhere you turn there's one in a shopping center somewhere! Many of the national donut chains will be offering up something special to celebrate the donut on Friday, check out some of these special offers:

• Dunkin’ Donuts: Get a free classic donut of your choice with the purchase of any beverage on June 1. The classic-donut lineup includes favorites like Boston Kreme, glazed and Strawberry Frosted with Sprinkles.
• Krispy Kreme: On June 1, get one free doughnut of your choice. No purchase necessary.
• Shipley Do-Nuts: Stop by a participating location, this Friday June 1st, and enjoy one free donut, with a purchase!

Some local donut shops may have other specials, you'll need to ask if they have anything special happening on National Donut Day!
