Don't be impacted by the new bag policy at Rose Stadium this fall, here's what you need to know.

We'll soon be cheering for our favorite team under the lights on Friday nights. There is one stadium that is changing something that is going to affect quite a few fans, the Tyler Independent School District has announced a new policy in regard to the bags that fans will be allowed to carry into Rose Stadium.

Announced last Thursday, August 9th, the policy regarding bags being brought into Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium will be limited. Beginning with the first games of the season on August 31st, fans will only be allowed to carry in a bag that is no larger than 12" x 6" x 12" and will have to be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC. The change is being made to the bag policy for safety reasons. Greg Priest, Tyler ISD Athletics Director says,

Every year we look at ways to improve the fan experience and the safety of our fans. That’s our number one priority."

The change is not being prompted by any credible threat, just as a new safety precaution and following policies for other districts and major stadiums.

Here's a look at the bags that will be allowed:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12";
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar); and
  • Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand).
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

Here are some of the types of bags that will not be allowed in the stadium along with others:

  • Purses larger than a clutch bag
  • Diaper bags - items normally carried in a diaper bag must be in a clear plastic bag for entry to the stadium.
  • Cases (camera, binocular, etc.)
  • Backpacks/Cinch Bags (includes clear backpacks/cinch bags)
  • Fanny packs
  • Reusable grocery totes
  • Mesh or straw bags
  • Duffle bags
  • Large totes
  • other style bags too

Review the new policy and be prepared when you head to the stadium to cheer for your favorite team underneath those Friday Night Lights!
