Now that we've taken full advantage of the tax free shopping weekend and we're stocked up on clothes, notebooks, and pens, the attention turns to the actual start of school.

When students in Palestine had back to class, they'll be enjoying brand spanking new facilities that were three years in the making and cost about $65 million. The new high school accounted for $35 million of that.

The new Palestine High has classrooms, band and choir rooms, an auditorium, computer labs, a cafeteria, lecture hall, library/media center, and an art room, in addition to the admin offices.

The football stadium and track have been redone too, and a weight room building and a career and technology building are still being remodeled and updated. The grand opening came yesterday, and that gave the public the chance to mill around and see the shiny new features.

The pictures are impressive, and you can see them on the Palestine ISD website.

School starts August 27th. Class will be fun in Palestine! Enjoy the new digs.
