Nick Cannon Leaving New York Radio Show

This was bound to happen, given his overloaded work schedule. Nick Cannon, host of the 92.3 Now morning radio show ‘Rollin” in New York City, host of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ husband of Mariah Carey, and father of twins Roc and Roe aka dem babies, has stepped down from his radio post, effective immediately.

The news that Cannon, 31, is quitting his popular morning drive show after two years comes hot on the heels of yesterday’s big reveal: Cannon was hospitalized for blood clots that were likely a result of cross-country flights. Cannon had a major health scare last month, when he suffered from mild kidney failure. His doctors have ordered him to reconfigure his priorities and put his health first. Cannon, with his signature sense of humor, posted a statement on the station’s site which read, ”Even Superman has to sleep.”

While Cannon is exiting the morning show, he will retain his syndicated weekend show ‘Cannon’s Countdown.’

The entirety of Cannon’s statement is as follows:

Under doctor’s orders, I have been asked to put my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments in order to allow my body to get the rest that it needs to keep up with the demands of my multi-tasking schedule.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with CBS Radio and the 92.3 NOW morning show team and I would like to thank them for their unwavering support. I will continue to host my syndicated ‘Cannon’s Countdown’ weekend show and look forward to contributing to 92.3 NOW whenever possible. Even Superman has to sleep.

The powers that be at the station fully support Cannon’s decision, posting the following note of gratitude and love:

We respect and understand Nick’s decision to step down from his day to day position as host of morning drive on 92.3 NOW, and fully support him as he takes on a less demanding role with the station in order to address his health. Everyone at the station and all of the CBS RADIO family wish him well, and look forward to his continuing contributions to 92.3 NOW.
