As a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, it's been a frustrating 20 or so years since last lifting the Lombardi Trophy. But that doesn't sway my support.

I'll admit, owner Jerry Jones has been a big reason. His ego just won't let him take a step back and let more knowledgeable people do what they need to do to get back to dynasty status.

The one thing you can't argue, though, is Jones' ability to market. Even when the Cowboys have been awful, people bought tickets and people bought merchandise.

And now, thanks to Jerry Jones making sure the Cowboys were always front and center, he owns the most valuable sports franchise in the world, according to Fox 4.

Here's how they stack up:

  1. Dallas Cowboys - $4.8 Billion
  2. New York Yankees - $3.7 Billion
  3. New England Patriots - $3.7 Billion
  4. Manchester United (soccer) - $3.69 Billion
  5. FC Barcelona (soccer) - $3.64 Billion

This makes the 11th year in a row the Cowboys are the NFL's top valued team.

$4.8 Billion. Jones bought the team in 1989 for $150 Million.

A lot of that value comes from fees that teams collect for the rights to use the team for promotions and value of new or renovated stadiums. AT&T Stadium, home to the Cowboys, is worth $1.1 Billion on it's own.

So, if you have $5 Billion laying around, and Jerry is willing to sell, you could own the silver and blue yourself.
