This is awkward.

After One Direction thanked the wrong radio station onstage at the BRIT Awards, Capital FM and Heart FM are still sore at the band, banning their songs from airplay. Ouch!

Ace Showbiz reports that when the U.K. heartthrobs accepted their BRIT Award for best single two months ago, Harry Styles accidentally thanked BBC Radio 1, not Capital FM nor Heart FM, whose listeners were the ones who actually voted for their win.

The band and their reps apologized for the error almost immediately, releasing a statement saying, “One Direction forgot to thank the Capital Radio listeners last night when picking up their BRIT Award for Best British Single. This was an oversight as the boys were caught up in the excitement of winning. The band would like take this opportunity to thank Capital Radio and all their listeners for their support and for voting for them.”

This apology wasn’t good enough for Capital Radio, however, who still have yet to add One Direction into their airplay rotation. An insider even said, “On the night of the Brits there was an email to on-air teams saying to remove One Direction songs from music logs and to not talk about them.” A little harsh for someone who simply misspoke, right?

Even more telling, the stations didn’t cover the news that 1D made history by becoming the first U.K. act to have their first release debut at No. 1 in the U.S. The source told Ace, “It’s as if they no longer exist at Capital.”

While Capital refused to comment on the situation, we think it’s safe to say that it’s the station’s loss. The guys apologized for their mistake, and there’s little else they can do — especially when they’re busy at the top of the world without Capital FM’s help.
