2013, was another record breaking year for the Patriot Golf Classic and the UT Tyler Patriot Suddenlink Million Dollar Hole-in-One contest: $200,269.69 was raised through the efforts of these two groups. This is the largest amount raised thus far in the 27-year history of the fundraiser.

Yesterday evening I had the privilege of attending the Patriot Golf Classic check presentation. The check shows the result of the combined efforts of these two groups and the volunteers who work each year to organized the events which raise money for scholarships to help students cover the cost of higher education at the University of Texas at Tyler.

UT Tyler President, Dr. Rod Mabry, introduced and thanked the leadership of both groups including Randy Childress Chairman of the Patriot Golf Classic, as well as Jim White, President of the UT Tyler patriots, Jon Honea as Chairman of Hole-in-One contest and Vice Chair Aaron Uncapher.

Many thanks were also extended to members of the Patriot Golf Classic Society who contribute annually to the fund-raising efforts as well as lead sponsors like Suddenlink, Wagner Cadillac, The Genecov Group and R&K Distributing.

As a member of the UT Tyler Patriots, I can tell you that a great amount of effort and countless volunteer hours go into each of these events all in an effort to help kids receive an excellent education at UT Tyler. Both events this year were well organized and well attend, and it showed in the finally tally.
