You've lived with that live Christmas tree in the corner of your living room for almost a month now and now that it's time to take it down, what are you going to do with that hopefully not to dry, Christmas tree? Recycle it!

The City of Tyler is offering residents the opportunity to drop off undecorated, non-flocked trees to be recycled and used as fish habits in area ponds and lakes. That once beautiful tree that gave you and your family so much joy could soon be a habitat for fish! Beginning Tuesday, December 26th, you may drop off those trees at one of two recycling points in Tyler:

  • Golden Road Park - located at McDonald Rd. and Golden Rd.
  • Fun Forest Park - located in the 900 block of N. Glenwood Blvd.

The last day to drop off trees will be Saturday, January 13th.

Area fisherman may stop by anytime and pick up some trees to sink in nearby lakes to create fish habits for their favorite fishing spots! These trees create special 'safe haven' areas for smaller fish.

If you choose not to recycle your tree, you can place it curbside on your normal trash run day for disposal in the city landfill.
