Rihanna’s ‘ANTI’ Is Finally Complete, and Reportedly Coming This Week (Really This Time!)

UPDATE (1/26): According to Billboard, "sources" say that ANTI is (really, really, really this time!) coming out this week, and "likely as a surprise release before Friday." (It would also be the least surprising "surprise release" of all time.)

A source also reports to Billboard that "Rihanna's next single, featuring an OVO artist, is set to arrive at 8 a.m. Wednesday." If you've been on #ANTIWatch, you'll know that she just shot a video with Drake for a song called "Work." Stay tuned...

In an act as restorative as rain after a years-long drought or a fruitful harvest after famine, Rihanna seems to have finally confirmed that ANTI, her much-anticipated eighth studio album, is complete. And she did it in jewel-encrusted, gilded headphones.

Earlier this morning, RiRi posted the image above — which finds her pensively staring somewhere past the camera — to Twitter with the caption "listening to ANTI." The message came on the heels of an #ANTiIsFinishedParty Twitter trend, which found her followers popping virtual bottles and setting free red emoji balloons in hopeful anticipation of a big announcement.

"PRAISE THE LORD THE TIME HAS COME I'VE BEEN WAITING 2938439284 YEARS AND NOW THE WAIT IS OVER. #ANTiIsFinishedParty #ANTI @rihanna," user @andy_yayy wrote, while @AntiG4L wrote "my wig is officially off, I have nothing left. Can't believe this is happening #ANTiIsFinishedParty."

In November, Rihanna released the interactive Samsung mobile site ANTIdiaRY, suggesting an around-the-corner ANTI release date. Still, a month later, Sia told the BBC the pop star was still shopping around for songs, and that she'd just sought out the songwriter for multiple tracks.

"The other night she came over and listened to half of 25 songs I played her — ’cause she’s still looking for songs for her new album," Sia said. “She took four, but I don’t know if they’ll end up…I’m pretty sure I have one on the next album, but I don’t know if I’ll end up with more."
