Rihanna is ready for her bloody shower close-up: During Friday's (July 22) Bates Motel panel at San Diego Comic Con, it was announced that the Anti pop star will star in the upcoming fifth and final season of the A&E show, where she will play the iconic role of Marion Crane.

At the panel, show producer Carlton Cuse revealed that the casting — which came as a surprise to an unsuspecting audience — was actually five years in the making. On Twitter, a self-filmed video of the ecstatic "Needed Me" singer making the announcement was released. In the clip, the singer giggles before sharing the news.

"Yes, hello Comic Con! It's your girl RiRi, and let me tell you what a bad b***h is about to do. I am about to check into the Bates Motel very soon," she said.

"Guess what else? Guess who's playing Marion? Yes, so all you Comic Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned!" Rihanna added, before signing off with a kiss (it better).

Bates Motel serves as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's landmark 1960 horror film, Psycho, in which iconic scream queen Janet Leigh originally played the role of Marion, the character who **SPOILER!** gets slashed to death while taking a shower in her motel room.

As for Rihanna, the music superstar, who has also acted in films like Battleship, is no stranger to horror: Music videos like "Disturbia" and "B***h Better Have My Money" have explored creepy, gory themes, and in 2013 she had a brief but memorable cameo in the horror-comedy, This Is the End.

In 2017, the artist will appear in Luc Besson's sci-fi adventure, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
