Downtown Tyler has another cool event going on at Liberty Hall. Don't miss their version of Battle of the Bands: Rock, Paper, Scissors, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 17 at Liberty Hall, 103 E. Erwin St. in downtown Tyler. The concept is cool - Rock stands for rocking out, Paper meaning your entry form, and Scissors applies to the bands will be cut before a champion is selected.

Liberty Hall's Facebook page states:

The City of Tyler’s Liberty Hall is accepting entries for the first battle of the bands event, “Rock, Paper, Scissors” through July 17. The event will be at 8 p.m. on Aug. 17.
Bands should submit a DVD or link of their performance with a limit of two songs. Any genre of music accepted and at least one song submitted must be an original. Bands must be from the East Texas area and must have at least two members, no solo acts.

Sounds to me like a great opportunity for local bands to showcase their hard work, and a great opportunity for the surrounding community to experience what the local music scene has to offer.
