Ratched and The Politician were just the beginning of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix career. The American Horror Story and Pose showrunner has officially made the streaming service his new home, signing a whopping $300 million deal to develop new series for the next five years.

Netflix confirmed as much late Tuesday, announcing that Murphy had “entered into a multi-year deal to produce new series and films exclusively at Netflix, starting July 1, 2018.” The New York Times reported the $300 million estimate (triple what Shonda Rhimes received for a similar deal), also specifying that Murphy’s FX projects American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Feud and Pose will all remain in their current homes. Said Murphy of the news:

The history of this moment is not lost on me. I am a gay kid from Indiana who moved to Hollywood in 1989 with $55 dollars in savings in my pocket, so the fact that my dreams have crystallized and come true in such a major way is emotional and overwhelming to me. I am awash in genuine appreciation for Ted Sarandos, Reed Hastings and Cindy Holland at Netflix for believing in me and the future of my company which will continue to champion women, minorities and LGBTQ heroes and heroines, and I am honored and grateful to continue my partnership with my friends and peers at Fox on our existing shows.

The deal is seen as a significant blow to 21st Century Fox, which is still in the process of being acquired by Disney. Most immediately, Murphy has Netflix’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest prequel Ratched to work on with Horror muse Sarah Paulson, followed by Ben Platt musical series The Politician. Amazon is also said to have courted Murphy, but stay tuned for the latest on his new Netflix empire.
