Niall Horan's solo career may have just taken off, but he's already prepared for a pop star co-pilot.

On last night's (September 28) episode of The Late, Late Show With James CordenShawn Mendes, whose second LP Illuminate dropped on September 23, said he and Horan have been in touch for some time now, and that a collaboration between the two is basically a done deal.

"Definitely," Mendes said when Corden asked him about the rumors. "He's awesome. I've been talking to him for a long time but it's annoying, because I'll be in London and like 'Niall I'm here' and he'll be like 'Just landed in L.A.' and vice-versa. When we get a second, I want to write with him a bunch, for sure."

And fans are already demanding any future project's release.

"Never been so excited about something, but this made me shook. This can only turn out really angelic," one YouTube user jumped to observe.

"Treat You Better," Mendes' lead single from Illuminate, has so far peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 since its June release. And it's likely only a matter of time before Horan joins his ranks as a formidable solo act. Since releasing "This Town" this morning (September 29), Horan's official announcement has been retweeted more than 110,000 times.
