If you're a fan of Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte (or PSL, as you would likely call it), the company just announced a major change to the recipe.

In an announcement made by executive Peter Dukes in a blog post, Starbucks made known that the new Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe will feature real pumpkin in a puree and does away with artificial caramel coloring.

After hearing from customers and partners about ingredients, we took another look at this beverage and why we created it so many years ago. It was simple - espresso, perfectly steamed milk, warm fall spices with delicious flavor of pumpkin pie that reminds you of the cool, crisp days of autumn. So, with that great taste you know and love, the PSL returns this fall, and this time it will be made with real pumpkin and without caramel coloring."

Starbucks has recently faced a lot of pressure on the company to release the ingredients of its most popular drink of all-time. And while it didn't divulge that info with this new announcement, Dukes did reveal all the ingredients in the made over version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte:

  • Espresso
  • Milk
  • Pumpkin Spice Flavored Sauce (Sugar, Condensed Skim Milk, Pumpkin Puree, Contains 2% or Less of Fruit and Vegetable Juice for Color, Natural Flavors, Annatto (Color), Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Salt)
  • Whipped Cream (Light Whipping Cream [Cream, Mono and Diglycerides, Carrageenan])
  • Starbucks Vanilla Syrup (Sugar, Water, Natural Flavors, Potassium Sorbate (Preservative), Citric Acid)
  • Pumpkin Spice Topping (Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg, Clove)

So, there you have it, PSL fans. It's looking like your favorite fall drink will have more original flavor in it, so hopefully that makes it even better.
