Starbucks CEO Says Keep Your Guns at Home [POLL]

The CEO of the Starbucks corporation announced that they will not allow costumers with firearms enter any Starbucks location from now on. What is the reasoning behind this decision to keep guns away from your pumpkin spice lattes?

Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz, said that this is not a political statement. The decision to make Starbucks locations gun free was not done to say that they are by any means “anti-gun” or “pro-gun.” The company has not created a rule strictly banning guns.

Schultz continues his explanation of this choice to “respectfully request” that firearms stay on the other side of these popular coffee shop doors by saying that this is to ensure that Starbucks can stay in a more neutral position on the Second Amendment debate. Also, they want to stay out of the opinions being thrown around about the place of firearms in American society itself.

Here are Schultz exact words from this surprising controversial press release:

“Pro-gun activists have used our stores as a political stage for media events misleadingly called ‘Starbucks Appreciation Days’ that disingenuously portray Starbucks as a champion of ‘open carry.’ … To be clear: we do not want these events in our stores. Some anti-gun activists have also played a role in ratcheting up the rhetoric and friction, including soliciting and confronting our customers and partners. For these reasons, today we are respectfully requesting that customers no longer bring firearms into our stores or outdoor seating areas—even in states where ‘open carry’ is permitted—unless they are identified law enforcement personnel.”

What do you think about this decision?
