Tyler police are investigating a stolen vehicle found on fire at a dealership parking lot Sunday night.

Tyler firefighters responded to Tyler Ford on Loop 323 around 8:40 p.m. Sunday where they discovered the stolen vehicle on fire.

Police earlier in the night had a report of the same vehicle taken from a gas station located at 1516 South Vine Street. The victim told police his 1999 Chevy Suburban was stolen when he went inside the convenience store.

Several other cars at the dealership were also damaged because of the fire.

No arrest has been made at this time.

A man police described as homeless is jailed today facing charges of robbery and evading arrest.

Robert Jackson, 33, is suspected of robbing the Food Fast Conveience Store at 805 W. Houston St. in Tyler.

Tyler police officers riding in the same patrol vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the store when they observed a black male exit the store and walk east bound through the parking lot.

The clerk told the officers she had just been robbed by the man.

Both officers immediately ran toward the suspect in attempt to detain him.  The suspect ran from officers and crossed over Palace Street. The suspect then climbed a fence leading into a house's back yard. Additional officers arrived in the area and surrounded the residence. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody.

An undisclosed amount of cash was recovered at the scene.
