East Texas artists will be displaying their creations at the Goodman-LeGrand House and Museum in Tyler Saturday for Art In The Park. The free event will open from 10a to 4p along with tours of the historic Goodman home.

Elías García Martínez's fresco depiction of Jesus in Borja, Italy had lasted since the 19th century. Until a couple of years ago, it had stayed in almost pristine condition. The fresco was damaged two years ago, leaving this historic piece in need of repair. The church that housed the painting did not look forward to having to spend the enormous amount of money to have professions come restore the painting. So, when an elderly woman offered to do the work for free, they jumped at the chance.

Tyler Kids Get Free Museum Passes

Curious kids love to look at things and check things out, and parents love it when those things are free. This sounds like win-win.

The Tyler Museum of Art is giving free passes to local elementary kids so they can go check out an exhibit to celebrate National Arts and Humanities month in October.

Scott Weaver has spent the last 35 years building a highly-detailed tower replica of San Francisco using only toothpicks. And it that wasn’t impressive (or insane) enough, his tower allows ping pong balls to take a half-dozen differently routed tours throughout San Francisco’s neighborhoods and famous landmarks.
