This is very poor timing. The Beastie Boys were slapped with a copyright-infringement lawsuit just one day before group member Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch passed away. According to AllHipHop.com, Tuf America filed the lawsuit on May 3 claiming the group unlawfully sampled portions of Trouble Funk’s songs on two of their classic albums.
Coldplay and the Beastie Boys could hardly be more different, but they came together in a moving and timely tribute to Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch, who passed away yesterday (May 4) at 47 years old.
Today, May 4, the Beastie Boys lost one of their founding members when Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch passed away at the age of 47. The music world is devastated over the loss of Yauch, who was battling cancer before his death, and many artists and fans took to Twitter to express their condolences and sadness.
TMZ.com has confirmed what GlobalGrind.com announced, Beastie Boys rapper MCA has passed away. MCA's real name was Adam Yauch and he was undergoing treatment for a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node for which he had surgery for and was going through radiation therapy. Although at this time it hasn't been announced that his death has been connected to his cancer.
It seems like just yesterday that they were urging us to fight for our right to party. Now — as of this morning (Dec. 7), in fact — the Beastie Boys are among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s latest inductees.
‘Sesame Street’ is known for its musical numbers but generally the lyrics lean a little more optimistic (“Sunny day / Sweeping the clouds away”) than the rhymes in the Beastie Boys single ‘Sure Shot’ (“I’ve got the brand new doo-doo / guaranteed like Yoo-Hoo”).
