‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1′ continued to dominate at the box office this weekend, earning $42 million to easily retain its top spot on the charts.

Unless you live under a rock, you know that the fourth segment of the Twilight Series, 'Breaking Dawn: Part 1', was released last Friday. I've never been one to get into the whole midnight premiere thing, but this year I thought I'd see what the fuss was all about.

In news that will likely surprise exactly no one, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1′ glittered and gored its way to a spectacular $139.5 million premiere this weekend, giving the latest film in the popular franchise the fifth-largest domestic opening in history.

Whether your thing is animated penguins who sing and dance or gothic love stories involving vampires and werewolves, both of the new movies in wide release this weekend have been much hyped and hotly anticipated.

The next Twilight movie will be in theaters next Friday, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1 and features the wedding and honeymoon of Edward and Bella. The soundtrack to the movie was released last week and has already spawned 2 hits - one from Bruno Mars and the other from Christina Perri. The videos to the songs have been released and feature clips from the movie.

It's been one of the most successful movie franchises in recent history and coming up November 18th you can expect a sell out on opening day/night and all the midnight showings of The Twilight Saga:  Breaking Dawn -- Part 1.  Catch it after the jump.

"Twilight" fans have received an early treat: A new clip of the wedding between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) has hit the Web. In the 15-second promo from Breaking Dawn: Part 1, Bella is seen from behind walking down the aisle in the middle of the forest as Edward waits at the altar under a stunning arch of flowers.
